One of my all time favorites

I don't have the taste for music that Paco and more educated, musical types have. Most of my favourites come from my childhood.They're not classics by any stretch of the imagination, and may even be so far from 'classy' as to prove I was poor white trash. The memories they evoke are bittersweet, knowing I can't go back but so "wishing" it could be so...

Funny, this song came out when I was in 5th or 6th grade, and I didn't hear it for DECADES...but I still know every word.

More than sausage...

Big Bad John, by Jimmy Dean, long before he began marketing sausage. Sometimes I got to stay up late to watch his show, if the Ralph the Dog muppet was on. I think I was 5.

Grandfather's family on my mum's side came from coal mining country in Ohio. This video shows why he stuck with dry land farming and teaching school out on the prairies of Montana, I think. It'd be my choice, too.

A blast from my past to cheer me back up

As a sixth and seventh grader, I had massive school-girl crushes on Peter Noone and Peter Tork.

I save some of the crush for Mickey, too. Peter Tork's song "Auntie Grizzelda" doesn't seem to be one of the YouTube specials, so we'll make do with this cuz it's a better quality than some of the others.

Do you feel old and stupid yet? Yes, I KNOW it's a song from the 60's, but nostalgia is TIMELESS, isn't it? Reminds me I'm glad I managed to mature some, with NO help from my friends.

Nostalgia is, after all, just a kind word for OLD.
